How to Find Import-Export Buyers & Sellers in India (and Abroad)

Import-export outreach fails most often for one reason: businesses target the wrong direction. Selling logistics services to importers is a different pitch than selling sourcing services to exporters — here's how to tell them apart and reach the right one.

Exporters: already selling overseas

Indian exporters have already solved the "should we sell internationally" question — they're doing it. That makes them a strong fit for export-adjacent services: freight forwarding, trade finance, documentation/compliance, and export-grade packaging. You're not pitching an idea, you're pitching a better way to do what they already do.

Importers: actively sourcing from abroad

Importers need customs clearing, import logistics, trade finance, and sourcing/vetting help for overseas suppliers. Same logic in reverse — they're already buying internationally, so the pitch is about making that process cheaper, faster, or safer.

International buyers: if you're the one exporting

If you're an Indian business trying to sell abroad, the database you need isn't Indian exporters — it's international buyers and importers in your target market (USA, UK, Australia, Gulf countries, and more). We carry country-specific buyer databases for exactly this direction.

Practical tip: before buying any import-export list, be clear on which side of the transaction you're pitching to — the exporter, the importer, or a buyer in a specific country. Each is a different database.
